Well,
the last two days have been pretty good.
Yesterday, I baked
bread for the first time (in the crockpot, no less!) which surprisingly came
out edible.
We also called a lady
named C__, who has a cool story. In high school, she had a friend who was a
member of the church, who offered her a Book of Mormon. Well, she said she was
too busy, because she had to help her mother at home after school, so she wouldn’t
have time to read it. So this member took it upon herself to visit her after
school and read the Book of Mormon to her while she did her chores! That is
some crazy dedication! Well, C__ moved away, and forgot about it for a while,
eventually becoming active in another faith. Then, her sister and brother in
law came to her and asked if she would be offended if they joined the Mormon
church! So she was again connected to the church. Unfortunately, her brother in
law, armed with partial knowledge and overbearing eagerness, left her with some
unsettled feelings about church doctrine. But we called her, talked through the
actual truths about modern prophets and apostles, the Book of Mormon...and
getting your own planet
...and she
said that she would look into it again.
Today, after calling
12 or so dud numbers, someone called us back, and we had a good chat with them
and will be dropping off a copy of the Book of Mormon to her next week.
Also, an episode I
forgot to mention from Tuesday. As we were getting back from an errand, we met
one of our downstairs neighbors wheeling her bike out for a ride, and were able
to help her get it adjusted. Like a good neighbor...missionaries are there!
